This new electric bandage is powered a by wearable nanogenerator constructed of overlapping sheets of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), copper foil, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The nanogenerator converts skin movements into small electrical pulses, which then flow to two working electrodes placed on either side of the wound to produce a weak electric field. Basically, energy generated by a patient’s body fuels the electrical pulses.

“Our device is as convenient as a bandage you put on your skin,” Xudong Wang, a professor of materials science and engineering at UW-Madison, told the university’s communications team.

The tests showed that such e-bandages heal wounds within three days, compared to 12 days with a normal control bandage.

“We were surprised to see such a fast recovery rate,” said Wang. “We suspected that the devices would produce some effect, but the magnitude was much more than we expected.”

What's Brigitte's daily life like?
Brigitte's most common responsibilities are taking care of Reinhardt's armor, the van they travel around in, and now, her own suit of armor. It's still a work in progress, so she's always making upgrades and adjustments to it.

She trains and spars with Reinhardt every day, but afterwards, the two of them like to kick off to the tavern or pub and relax.

She probably looks at a lot of cat holo-gifs.


How does Torbjörn feel about her decision?
Torbjörn knows that his daughter shares his stubbornness, and it's something he understands and respects. His bigger concern is that Reinhardt and Brigitte are in over their heads, but he ultimately supports their decisions.

And he probably thinks there's no one better to look after one of his best friends than his daughter.


What's Brigitte's motivation?
Originally, Brigitte was interested in adventure, traveling around, doing good, and getting a chance to make the world a better place. But Brigitte cares deeply for her godfather and believes in him. She wants to do what it takes to keep him safe, while she hones her own skills.

N.b.: All the below are my assumed years. Overwatch’s timeline is wobbly, but I’m treating this as if present-day Overwatch is 2076. Brigitte comes from a couple years later (2078, aged 25), to give her some more field experience with the organisation.

WORLD HISTORY

• pre-2046: Omnica Corporation proposes construction of omniums. Omniums are constructed in multiple countries. Omnium production rates fall short of Omnica Corporation’s promises amidst multiple instances of malfunction. Omnica Corporation investigated for fraud and dissolved; all omniums are decommissioned.

• 2046: Multiple omniums spontaneously re-activate and commence mass construction of Bastion Siege Automatons and other robot war machines. The omniums’ armies of omnics commence assaults in Russia; this is the start of the Omnic Crisis. Omnic assaults spread to multiple other nations.

• 2047-2049: Germany implements and equips the Crusaders in response to the omnic attack. Reinhardt Wilhelm joins the Crusaders. All international attempts to repulse the omnic assault fail. The United Nations proposes the formation of the Overwatch strike team in response to the continuing omnic threat. Overwatch commences achieving victories against the omnics. Reinhardt joins Overwatch.

• 2050: Overwatch’s strikes against the omnic command and control structure render the majority of the omnic armies inert. The Omnic Crisis is declared over. Overwatch commences transition to a peacetime organization.

BRIGITTE’S LIFETIME

• 2053: Torbjörn is severely injured during an operation in Istanbul, Turkey, losing his arm. Brigitte Lindholm is born.

• 2067 - 2069: Allegations of corruption and illegal activity are leveled against Overwatch. Blackwatch becomes public.

• 2069: The Null Sector uprising. Omnic extremist group Null Sector kidnaps Tekhartha Mondatta, London’s Mayor Nandah and a hundred people, holding them in a King’s Row power plant. The UK prime minister denies Overwatch permission to operate within British borders. Strike Commander Morrison ignores orders from UN Director Petras and disregards the UK prime minister by dispatching a mission team comprised of Mercy, Reinhardt, Torbjörn and Tracer to King’s Row.

• 2070: An explosion destroys Overwatch’s Swiss HQ. The United Nations officially disband Overwatch and ratify the Petras Act.

• 2071: Tensions between humans and omnics in Russia reach a breaking point; the Second Omnic Crisis commences.

• 2074 (before October): Reinhardt and Brigitte repair Reinhardt’s Crusader armor to remove a local gang from a small town in Germany. Meanwhile, Torbjörn saves Boklovo from a Titan piloted by Sven.

• 2075 (January): Bastion - who had traveled via the Baltic sea - appears in Northern Sweden and encounters the locals. Torbjörn - who had been sent to hunt Bastion down - discovers that Bastion has become more than their programming and takes them in.

• 2075 (March): Despite Brigitte’s pleadings, Reinhardt decides to answer Winston’s recall. She joins him, reluctantly at first.

• 2076: Initial canon ‘present-day’.
